AE Versions

Motion Tools Pro works with the 2020(>17.5) version of After Effects and newer.

If you notice a black screen, your AE is likely outdated. The earliest versions of 2020 AE, such as 17.0.0, do not work. Try to update to the most recent version as possible.

MTP Version Conflict

If updating to the new version does not solve the problem and you have used an older version of MTP before, a version conflict may cause the issue.

MTP's data for its operations are located on different paths depending on your operating system. To reset the extension, try to back up this folder and remove the entire "Motion Tools Pro folder.

Windows

MacOS

/Users/<user>/Library/Application Support/MDS/Motion Tools Pro/

Debug Flag

Usually, if an extension encounters a critical error, it may crash. However, there is a way to run an extension even with errors. You can enable debug mode for Adobe software. The easiest way to do this is to activate it in the ZXP Installer settings.

Some of the errors in extensions are hidden and don’t display in the extension. You can help us to find them faster after enabling Debug Flag. It needs a few steps:
